Dawnn Lewis
BIOGRAPHY

DAWNN LEWIS always seems to be "doing something"! Maybe that's because, she is!! More often than not she's either doing one or any combination of the following: performing, composing, singing, voice-overs, commercials, producing or speaking to youth groups around the country.

With 2005 upon us Dawnn’s already full plate shows no signs of slowing down. She's just finished filming stirring guest star roles on the highly acclaimed hit series NYPD BLUE as well as CBS' new series MEDICAL INVESTIGATION, practically at the same time! She was recently added to the cast of the hit UPN series, GIRLFRIENDS as Williams’ sister Linda. Just a few weeks ago she wowed audiences in the Washington DC production of WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BLACK LOVE (which is scheduled for a limited tour). During Black History month, in addition to speaking at several Universities around the country, she also did a heart stirring revival of her CELEBRATING THE NEGRO SPIRITUALS concert. Prior to that, she starred in the hit musical FAT GIRLS at the Stage 52 theatre in Los Angeles. Written by and featuring Ms. Carla Drew, directed by Aloma Wright (NBC: SCRUBS), and produced by Ms. Wright & Kosmond Russell (THE VISIT & THE MARRIAGE). During that same year she also starred in Donald Welch’s rousing production of LET THE CHURCH ROLL ON! With Marla Gibbs. Dawnn was also seen starring in the invigorating and moving stage play BLACK WOMAN'S BLUES, with Vanessa Bell Calloway, Aloma Wright & Wendy Raquel Robinson. Written by Gus Edwards, it is a series of poems/remembrances of love, hope, pain & joy skillfully interwoven with music and laughter that has garnered the ladies much kudos from their peers and the press.

PBS boldly stepped out last season with an original dramatic series: THE ENDGAME: ETHICS AND VALUES IN AMERICA starring Dawnn & Roma Maffia. Episode by episode this series challenges the viewing audience to honestly assess where they stand given a particularly difficult situation where "right & wrong" is not always so black & white.

Late night TV fans of Andy Richter (Conan O'Brien Show) can also catch Dawnn on his recently renewed sitcom ANDY RICHTER RULES THE UNIVERSE as his new "Irish" love interest Jackie!

If that were not enough, she began her own record label: Morning Jewel Music, and released her first solo album entitled "WORTH WAITING FOR". It's a sultry blend of Jazzy R&B. The long awaited musical project is now available only on her Web site www.DawnnLewis.com. The album's still being played by a many of the major radio stations across the country, eagerly awaiting her second release. Her sensual vocals are also featured on the single It’s A Shame on the renowned jazz violinist Michael Ward’s newly released CD CONTINUUM. In addition to her already busy schedule Dawnn manages to do concerts all across the country, the highlight of which was hosting & performing in the Sister's In The Spirit Tour with Shirley Caesar, Yolanda Adams, Mary Mary, & Virtue.

Prior to that Dawnn was filming the Disney movie entitled THE POOF POINT. Starring Dawnn, Mark Curry, Tahj Mowery and Racquel Lee. It's a fun family film with Mark & Dawnn as husband and wife scientists in the midst of an experiment gone wrong, leaving their kids (Tahj & Racquel), to save the day. The film's sound track also features the title track from Dawnn's CD WORTH WAITING FOR. You may have also seen her on the recently premiered A&E Biography as well as the Fox Sports special about her long-time close friend Olympic Diving Champion Greg Louganis. You will also be able to hear her views as well as those of some of Hollywood's most influential actors, directors, producers and consumers on the use of tobacco & cigarettes in Hollywood films, TV, and advertising in the S.T.A.R.S. Documentary "SCENE SMOKING".
